Dams & Studs
I am usually on the lookout for excellent quality Lab females, ages 1.5 - 4 yrs of age. I would like to have 2 more females of breeding age in the near future.
Must be intact, fit breed standards, have excellent temperament and loving personalities. I am open to any color, but they must be friendly, healthy, and all around good examples of the breed. OFA/CERF/DNA tested would be ideal, but I can do that if the dog’s good to begin with and the price is fair.
Moses was our original Standard poodle stud dog. He was registered as Tinks Holy Moses. Moses is the father to both of our spring 2008 litters. We have had pups born in April and May… thanks to Moses.
Sadly, we had to put our Moses down on Sat April 5, 2008.
He developed Juvenile Renal Disease, and had reached a critical point where all he had to look forward to was pain and suffering. He was a dear and cherished friend, so there’s no way we could put him through that. So with my husband and myself holding him, he passed peacefully.
Juvenile Renal Disease (JRD) is a genetic problem that’s become an issue in about 2 dozen pure breeds of dogs. Both parents have to carry the gene in order to pass it on, and most pups die before their second birthday from it. It’s devastating and there is no cure.
JRD is one reason I breed hybrid dogs rather than purebreds. Had I bred him with a pure bred poodle there would be a chance that his pups would have met the same fate he did. Since he has bred only Labs, we eliminated that possibility.
There is a very good article about this nasty genetic disease at: http://www.workingdogs.com/doc0118.htm
Moses was apricot; 24″tall at the withers and 64 lbs. Moses was absolutely one of the most mellow dogs I have ever had the privilege to own. He was gentle, smart, comical and loved everyone. It was his exemplary temperament that convinced me to breed him.
The most endearing trait Moses had was that he loved to smile. Many of his offspring have gotten his talent for smiling! What a wonderful thing to pass on!
Canada had a litter on April 16, 2008. She is an AKC registered Labrador Retriever. Canada retired when this litter was weaned.
Most of her f1 labradodle pups have gone to their new homes. Check our current litters page for updates.
Canada is a black 20″ tall, 67 lb female. There’s not an ounce of nasty in her . She loves her wading pool, her family, and anyone who will pet her. She’s been an excellent mother and a real treasure!
Bella was a very pretty Lab. We had a May 28 litter out of her and Moses. Those pups will be ready to go to new homes July 24.
Bella died in a freak accident on June 21, leaving her 4.5 week old pups behind for us to raise for her. Fortunately they are doing very well, but will likely be extremely people oriented because we can’t seem to stay away from them. There’s not much sadder than a baby who’s lost it’s mamma… so we’re doing our best to fill that void for them.

To add some new color variety…
We have purchased a new stud dog. “Tinks Chocolate Chip” is a wonderful APRI registered cafe au lait (chocolate and silver blend) standard poodle. Because Chip has a liver rather than black colored nose, we know he will pass his gorgeous color on to his pups. We hope he’ll be siring pretty brown babies for us. Nothing rattles this boy. He’s calm in a room full of people, other dogs and a cat tossed in for good measure. What a wonderful trait to pass on to his offspring! Chip is in the process of being DNA tested to be sure he’s a worthy sire for upcoming litters.
I have to keep pinching myself to see if I’m dreaming.
I have bought a beautiful AKC chocolate Lab female to join our breeding program. Hickory is a very gentle, beautiful dog with great muscle and color. She’s more compact than most of my labs, but is a beauty.
In her 5 generation pedigree there is only one dog that is not chocolate. She is a very nice example of the breed standards and will help me to obtain my goal of being able to offer chocolate Labradoodles. She’s just 22 months old, so should be with us for many years. I do feel she’s got the looks and temperament to produce some very nice pups. She has become fast friends with Bella and Chip, so is quite happy in the large outdoor run playing with them. Hickory is also in the process of being DNA tested. I want to be able to feel secure that I have done everything I can to breed only sound dogs.

News flash:
I have just added a beautiful Reg yellow Lab girl to our family!
Jessie comes from western Minnesota, so I had a bit of a drive to get her. She’s a young adult who formed friendships with my other dogs almost immediately. She’s a friendly, silly, typical Lab. Right now she’s getting acclimated and we’re just getting to know her, so will update when we know her better.
I went, I saw, I couldn’t resist!
Please help us welcome “Gypsy’s Lullaby” to our menagerie. I found this lovely lass with a very nice couple who definitely know and breed great quality Labs. Their adult dogs were very nice, their pedigrees are impressive, and when I saw their current litter I was a goner. I hope in time she will produce pups as pretty as she is; until then I will just enjoy making her one of the family. She comes from an impressive list of champions, so I’m really looking forward to working with her. In her first 4 days here she has learned to sit, come to her name and retrieve a ball. I don’t normally buy pups since it takes so long to raise them, but she was too nice to pass up.

I’ve obviously had a rough spring; losing 2 of my cherished young dogs. I could give up and just quit, but I retired early so that I could do something I truly enjoy, so will carry on and rebuild. I can’t imagine not having puppies to cuddle, dogs to play with, or getting the opportunity to meet so many great dog-loving people. I am blessed to be able to live my dream and have a family that supports me in it.
I have every intention of keeping my breeding program on a small enough scale that I personally can handle all the dogs and any resulting litters. I strongly believe that this is the best way for me to be able to know every pup and be a responsible breeder. My goal is to be able to produce 4-5 quality litters a year and keep my prices affordable for the average family.
