We have a VERY mellow, silly, and loving Standard Poodle stud named “Tink’s Chocolate Chip”. He got his name because he’s so sweet and brown.
Chip is APRI registered.
You won’t see a lot of chocolate poodles because it takes very specific breeding to produce them. They never “just happen”. Chip started out a deep dark chocolate and has grown silver hairs among the brown to become “café au lait” which is even more rare and desirable. (Cafe aul lait is the dilute color that Chip passes on to some of his babies.) Cafe au lait is similar to seeing cream poured in coffee.
Chip is very fun to work with, and has a fantastic temperament and personality. He’s smart and gentle, loving and very accepting of new people and things. We’re blessed to have Chip as the basis of our breeding program. Chip tested clear of all genetic defects listed at the bottom of this page. He carries black, chocolate, yellow and dilute color genes to pass on to his offspring. In my mind, he’s the ideal stud dog for doodle pups.
